Mother’s Day Sip ‘n’ Paint - Japanese Calligraphy


Sunday May 12th, 4:00-5:30pm


Looking for something new and fun to do with Mom for Mother’s Day? Why not sip sake and cold barley tea, sample Japanese snacks, and learn the basics of the beautiful and meditative art of Japanese Calligraphy!


Participants will learn basic techniques for writing Japanese characters with brush and ink, and complete a piece to take home. All materials and refreshments provided, and no knowledge of Japanese language necessary.


Instructor Nina Gonzalez is an award-winning calligrapher, and holds a teaching certificate and the rank of 5th-dan from Nihon Shuji, one of the largest calligraphy-teaching organizations in Japan.   • What We Do

    At Brooklyn Collective Studio School we seek to provide an affordable, flexible, multi-use space for our community. Devoted to preserving the art of handcraft while supporting local artists, our Studio School offers workshops, classes, pop-up shops, and events as eclectic and creative as the community we serve.
  • The Studio School is a 400 square foot work studio space within the Brooklyn Collective. The studio can accommodate up to 12 students with individual work stations. We can accommodate up to 100 people for events/pop-up.
