Week 1: Paper crafts on a theme
“Bird-watching”
Project 1: baby bird’s nest
Project 2: make your own binoculars
Week 2: “Drawing” with yarn + fiber
Students will incorporate yarn and other fiber into their projects. Basic materials are listed below each project, but feel free to get creative with things like cotton balls and fabric scraps.
“Rain + Sun”
Project 1: sun, cloud, or rainbow
Project 2: Make a vegetable garden
Week 3: Potluck using mixed materials
Plan a beach picnic or garden party!
Project 1: “Menu” What will you serve at your beach picnic or garden party?
Project 2: Make musical instruments for a party singalong!
(Materials: You can use materials like jar lids, bottle caps, rubber bands, popsicle sticks, empty toilet roll, empty cereal box, string, construction paper, glue, scissors, paint/crayons/markers, beads, dried beans, uncooked rice/pasta, coins…the list goes on and on!)
Week 4: Weaving
Project 1: picnic blanket
Project 2: Weave a 2D picnic basket
Week 5: Puppet-making
“Animals and insects”
Project 1: Toilet paper roll puppet
Project 2: Cardboard puppet
Week 6: Collage
Project 1: Create an outdoor scene of your beach picnic or garden party
Project 2: Selfies

Sue Kwon is a lifelong crafter and maker. She is a music teacher and educator by day. She loves helping people tap into their inner artist, and she especially loves crafting with children! Her favorite hobbies are knitting and cookie-baking. Sue lives in Brooklyn with a dog, a cat, and two bunny rabbits.

Hey Campers! No specialty crafting items are required for our classes, and projects were thoughtfully selected with ease of accessibility in mind. We've tried to keep all our activities to using simple materials you may have around the house!
