Welcome to Kids Make Comics, the ultimate summer camp for budding comic book creators! Our week-long camp is designed to help kids ages eight to eleven learn all the steps involved in creating their own comic book. From brainstorming an exciting story with a beginning, middle and end, to dynamically depicting their ideas on the comic book page through the art of drawing, coloring, and lettering, we've got it all covered. Our experienced instructors will guide your child every step of the way, helping them unleash their inner creativity and develop their artistic skills.
Each day, campers will work on their pages and by the end of the week we'll have the material to publish a comic featuring all of the campers' stories!

WHAT DOES THE COURSE INVOLVE?
Storytelling
A great comic book needs a great story, and our instructors will help your child develop their storytelling skills. Campers will learn how to create compelling characters, build tension and conflict, and structure their story for maximum impact. They'll also learn how to write dialogue that is natural and engaging, bringing their characters to life on the page. By the end of the week, your child will have learned all the fundamentals of writing a fully developed story ready to be brought to life on the comic book page.
Drawing and Sketching
At Kids Make Comics, we believe that every child has an inner artist waiting to be unleashed. Our instructors will teach your child the fundamentals of drawing and sketching, from basic shapes and forms to perspective and shading. They'll learn how to bring their characters to life on the page and hone their skills with plenty of hands-on practice.
Inking and Coloring
Once your child has completed their sketches, it's time to add detail and color to their comic book pages. Our instructors will teach them the techniques of inking and coloring, including how to use different materials and tools to achieve varying effects. By the end of the week, your child will have a fully inked and colored four-page comic book to be proud of.
Lettering
The final touch to any great comic book is the lettering. Our instructors will teach your child the basics of lettering, including basic comic book lettering rules, different lettering styles, and techniques for creating speech bubbles and sound effects.
Extended Learning in Art and Storytelling
Our approach to teaching art and storytelling is hands-on and interactive. We believe in the power of imagination and encourage our campers to explore their creativity in a supportive and collaborative environment. Through our curriculum, campers will not only learn the fundamental skills of writing, drawing, coloring, and lettering, but also develop their own unique style and voice as storytellers. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse community where all campers feel valued and supported.
